About Our Chapter

THE HISTORY OF THE LAKE COUNTY CHAPTER

The Lake County Chapter was established in September 2004 to better serve Northern Lake County, Il, and introduce assistants to the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP®).  Several IAAP members determined that having a chapter in this area would provide the many corporate headquarters in Vernon Hills, Lake Forest, Deerfield and Libertyville with an organization to promote leadership among assistants and those in the administrative job role.  The Lake County Chapter's purpose is to provide information, education, and training to enhance their individual and collective value, image, confidence and influence.  IAAP strives to be the acknowledged, recognized leader of administrative professionals and to set standards of excellence recognized by the business community on a global perspective.  The Lake County Chapter provides the administrative professional the avenue for establishing these goals.

The Lake County chapter consists of people of diverse backgrounds and professions.  Being members of the world's leading organization for office professionals allows our chapter to provide programs to assist its members to attain the highest level of professional standards.

The International Association of Administrative Professionals is a not-for-profit professional association for office professionals with approximately 40,000 members and affiliates and nearly 600 chapters worldwide. Our mission is to enhance the success of career-minded administrative professionals by providing opportunities for growth through education, community building and leadership development. The association founded in 1942 as the National Secretaries Association to provide a professional network and educational resources for secretarial staff. The association's name was changed in 1998 to the International Association of Administrative Professionals to encompass the large number of varied administrative job titles and recognize the advancing role of administrative support staff in business and government.
